3 Tips to Looking Skinny in a Costume

Adults love Halloween, and love dressing up. However, there’s the age old problem for women: how I find a cute costume that looks great, and make me look skinny? Men can dress in most costumes, even pull off the “This is my costume” t-shirt, but there’s a lot of pressure on women to find a cute or sexy Halloween costume and look good. So, how do you look skinny in a costume?

Don’t fret, if you follow these 3 simple tips you’ll find that you too can look skinny in your Halloween costume.

1. Wear high heels with your costume. Heels have the advantage of tightening up your calves, making them look firmer and smoothed. Heels also give the visual affect of lengthening the legs. This is especially good if your trouble areas are up top. Pair the highest heels you can comfortably wear with a short skirted costume for maximum leg attention.

2. Wear a costume that fits. This sounds like a no-brainer, but a lot of women will choose the wrong size costume, in an effort to appear skinnier. If your costume is too tight, you’re going to bulge in unsightly places, and it’s going to make you look like a stuffed sausage. Ever seen one of those heavier gals wearing a tube top? Imagine that on you.

On the other hand, if you choose a costume that’s too large, it’s going to hang on you, and create volume where it doesn’t belong. Baggy dresses, oversize tops, pants pooling about the ankle, all of these things make you look bigger than you are. Avoid the extra bulk and choose a costume that fits well, isn’t too tight anywhere, doesn’t bag or sag, and that you can move about easily in.

3. Flaunt your good parts. The best way to appear skinny is to draw attention away from problem areas, so flaunt the good parts. Do you have really toned arms? Try a sleeveless dress. Excellent cleavage? Show it off with a low cut top, or a corset. Great legs? Check out the heels suggestion above. Have great eyes? Do great eye makeup, and pull your hair up and away from your face, which will also slim it down, and draw attention to those gorgeous eyes.

Using the above simple tips, you too can look skinny in a costume. All you need to do is keep them in mind while shopping for your outfit.
