Beyond repair?

Very first of all, wow! The place has summer months gone? How can it potentially be September by now???
This is only going to be a shorter blog, but I just wanted to share a tiny maintenance task that I have been doing the job on right now. The shopper in the beginning despatched me an email a handful of months ago, as she’d been instructed by a superior street jeweller that her sentimental gold costume ring, wasn’t equipped to be resized. Que that minor evil bit in my brain that just desires to prove them improper and display that it IS doable, and voila! Just one resized garnet and pearl dress ring. Yes, it IS a fragile ring, so she’s not heading to be ready to have on it just about every day, but at the very least it now CAN be worn, alternatively than becoming destined to sit in a box forever!
The ring in query – so wonderful!
It’s 9ct gold, set with garnets and pearls and is extremely sensitive, but undoubtedly not over and above mend. It is a “dress ring” and will by no means have been intended to be worn all of the time.

Introducing the new gold

Cleansing up
When the new piece of gold was welded, it was just a situation of really carefully cleaning up the joins.

The more recent gold alloy was a a bit various colour, but it’ll all mix in with a polish.

Certainly, you can see the join if you look carefully, but from time to time it’s not all about entirely hiding the new portion. This ring was about preservation and producing it wearable once again.
