MaryHardingJewelry Bead Blog: Inspired by Pitcher Plants

Picture by Eric Wentling  Pitcher Vegetation

Each and every month Eric Wentling choses a picture to encourage his wife Sarajo.  She then shares it with the FB community and asks us to enjoy along with creations we make motivated her husband’s photograph.

Listed here is what Eric wrote about this month’s picture of Pitcher Plants:
This thirty day period I chose a picture from our new vacation out to Ligonier, PA for the Allegory Gallery’s Inventive Camp.  Andrew Thornton directed us out to a nearby bathroom the place the carnivorous vegetation had been in entire bloom.  An entire discipline of these pitcher vegetation and considerably lesser sundews stretched close to us–natural beauty and savagery all wrapped up in one small leafy package deal.  The peculiar condition, as effectively as the striated deep crimson designs against eco-friendly actually jumped out at me and I wanted to see what a bunch of jewelry designers could pull off with this inspiration!
I could not resist the problem of these exotic pitcher vegetation and the lovely hues they are sporting in their special garb.  So I am actively playing alongside.  This is my initial time.

I was so enamored of these interesting vegetation and the shade combo of burgundy and lime green that I went to function correct away.
My very first piece was a fern leaf in the pitcher plant palette.  I was doing the job in  polymer clay and have been given that I broke my ankle many months back and could not have obtain to my studio because of to the stairs. I expect to start out doing the job all over again in ceramic clay in Sept.

I was seriously energized to try modeling a pitcher plant from polymer clay.  I find that polymer is like magic for me when it will come to make 3 dimentional types.  Here is the initially pitcher plant I came up with:

So significantly it does not have a stringing gap that would show it ideal facet up.  I prepare to insert a stringing loop before long.  This is a single of the things I like about polymer:  it can be modified way just after it is treated by just curing all over again.

Then I produced a scaled-down pitcher plant that has a stringing loop.

I thoroughly liked staying inspred by the pitcher crops picture.  Thanks so substantially Eric and Sarajo.

I  hope you viewers will acquire a search at the other creations in the backlinks beneath.

Many thanks so substantially for stopping by!!
